Recipe Roundup: Healthy Super Bowl Appetizers

Posted by Mary Babiez on Feb 03 2017

We’re coming up on Super Bowl 51 this weekend and whether you’re a Falcons or Patriots fan, or in it for the commercials and Lady Gaga, you’re probably planning to host or attend a watching party.

Every year we gather with friends for the big game, and usually keep the menu along the lines of football food. That could mean anything from chili to pizza to nachos or wings, but this year’s host is vegetarian so I’m planning a vegetarian taco dip. On the lighter side but still traditional for Super Bowl fare.

While searching for the best vegetarian taco dip I could find, I came across some other fabulous healthy recipes that still feel like football fare.

If you’re planning an appetizer for Sunday’s game, consider one of these tasty (yet healthy) treats.

Ham and Dill Pickle Appetizer bites – From Kaylyn's Kitchen, this is an old favorite that is both tasty and low carb!

Healthy Chipotle Chicken Sweet Potato Skins – If you’re a fan of traditional potato skins (who isn’t??) but are staying away from white potatoes, these sweet potato skins from Half Baked Harvest have just the right chipotle spice and make the perfect alternative!

Cauliflower Buffalo Bites – With the creation of cauliflower crust pizza, a new favorite of ours, cauliflower is getting a new life, and these spice buffalo bites from Good Dinner Mom make the perfect Super Bowl snack!

Roasted Cauliflower and White Cheddar Dip – Another great use of cauliflower in this traditional, but healthy cheese dip from Closet Cooking!

For dessert, dark chocolate strawberries designed to look like footballs are all the rage!
